Fossil Cross Section 1a

This was one of the more successful first year pieces I've done. It was our lamenation project devised cleverly by well known canadian glass person Kevin Lockeau. I had huge intentions for this piece. The middle section was to be crystal clear, I used optically clear window glass (starfire glass) which I painted on cross sections of fossils to match the black fossilized marble. So it was basically a cube to begin with after lamenating, and then I had to pick an angle that allowed the viewer to actually look into the piece. So in terms of form I feel it could have been pushed a little more. But the bad thing that happened was I didn't realize that the lamenent yellows and at the time we didn't have any optically clear lamenent so my $100 of starfire glass went down the tube. But I did kinda like how the green went well with the black.
